Insurance
International students must have appropriate and current medical and travel insurance while studying in New Zealand.
Insurance can be arranged through Auckland Girls’ grammar using Uni-care and should be organized before the student leaves their home country. www.uni-care.org

The school requires all International Students to stay in homestays. We do not have a boarding establishment but use very responsible agencies to organise the homestay accommodation.

Homestay fees for 2011 are $NZ12,000. The school employs an International Students Co-ordinator to oversee the Homestay Programme and ensure that students are happy and well cared for in their homestays.

Our tuition fee is $14,000 payable in advance. Administration fee is $1000 (not refundable). Application fee $250.  Fees are subject to annual review. There are no extra fees for ESOL classes.

The homestay fee ($12,000 payable in advance) is subject to annual review. In addition to this fee, there is a $320 placement fee for Homestay. The homestay fees are payable in advance and into the school account. Replacement Fee of $200. 

Designated Care Fee is $1,000. All fees are in New Zealand dollars. Designated Care fees apply where students live with an approved family member instead of a Homestay family organised by the school. These fees are to be paid into the school bank account with Tuition Fees on acceptance of Offer of Place.

Academic Achievement
Auckland Girls' Grammar School prepares students for studying at University and other tertiary institutions. Our wide range of academic and vocational courses enable our students to achieve excellent results in the national qualification assessments and examinations.

English Language Assistance (ESOL)
We offer a full range of English classes at every level from beginners to those studying reading and writing for University study. This is included in the tuition fee.

Student Support Services
The Dean of International Students and the International Director are available to help with any problems students may have at school or at home. The school also employs two fully trained guidance counsellors, a registered nurse and a careers advisor.

Principal Travels to China

Auckland's Asian population is set to double over the next five years, so seven Auckland Principals are about to brush up on their knowledge with an 11-day tour to China from tomorrow. Auckland Girls Grammar deputy Principal Megan Jowsey will join nine other principals from around New Zealand for the trip.

The trip is organised by the Confucius Institute which is run by Auckland University and aims to strengthen business and cultural ties between New Zealand and China. As well as visiting schools and New Zealand businesses in China, the group will go to Chinese landmarks includign Tiananmen Square and The Great wall. "We see our job as coordinators of our students' global citizenship," Ms Jowsey says. "Learning a new langauge has the additional advantage of experiencing the unknown and developing an empathy with another culture, which is why we expect all our year 9 students to learn a second language. "We have recently added Mandarin to the list of languages we offer, in recognition of the growing significance of the China-New Zealand relationship. "An education that includes an Asian focus will elad to job opportunities in the future for our girls."

Confucius Institute director Nora Yao is confident the trip will benefit the schools and their students. "These schools are opening an important window for the students. People who learn about a foreign langauge and culture become more confident about their own."
